Massage & sign, from bump to baby & beyond

Hushabye Pregnancy Massage

Treat yourself, or a friend, to some time out in Hushabye Hands’s treatment room – a perfect opportunity to get some quality ‘me time’, a chance to unwind, relax and recharge.

With Hushabye Hands you can enjoy being pampered by an experienced massage therapist who will specifically tailor the treatment to your needs. Treatments can be carried out from the start of the second trimester right through to baby’s arrival.

Pregnancy massage is a natural, complementary therapy which can help improve both physical and emotional wellbeing. Treatments can bring a wealth of benefits, not just for the mum to be but also the baby, including:

  • increased circulation, which boosts the flow of oxygen and nutrients travelling to the placenta and increases blood flow to all tissues of the body, thereby benefiting both the mother and the baby.
  • improves the flow of the lymphatic system which helps to remove waste products from the tissues of the body and can help to prevent fluid retention, a common issue for women during the later stages of pregnancy in particular.
  • boosts metabolism which can slow down a little during pregnancy.
  • helps to soothe tension and relax the body which helps in a multitude of ways, not least to boost mum’s mood and to give her some time out from her everyday schedule.
  • helps to maintain muscle tone which is important for realignment both structurally and muscular after the birth.

A full consultation will be carried out before each treatment. If any contra indications are identified, then approval of treatment from a qualified health professional, such as a doctor, may need to be sought prior to treatment. A confidential record will be kept with any relevant notes from your treatment or any future treatments.

Massage should not replace conventional medical treatment but can sometimes be used alongside. Always consult your G.P or another medical professional for medical attention and advice.

What does a treatment involve?

Treatments are usually carried out either in a side-lying position on a massage bed or on a massage futon on the floor, with pillows for support where required. The therapist will guide the client in this to ensure safety and comfort. A seated massage is also possible, depending on the stage of pregnancy, health of the client and personal preference.

Clients are not required to bring anything with them for a treatment as all equipment will be provided.
