Tummy time is an important activity for your baby’s development, but it’s not always easy to get them on board!

Here are some tips to help make tummy time a positive experience for both of you:

Start Small: Start with just a minute or two at a time and gradually build up.

Use Props: A rolled-up towel or small cushion under their chest can make it more comfortable.

Get Down to Their Level: Lie on the floor with your baby so they can see your face—it makes it more engaging and reassuring.

Incorporate Play: Use toys, mirrors, or sing songs to keep them entertained.

Make It Part of Your Routine: Add tummy time to play sessions or after a nappy change when your baby is alert and happy.

Baby wear!: Did you know? Babywearing counts as tummy time (when baby is awake) because they engage their neck and core muscles so they still get a little workout without even realising!

Tummy time builds strength in your baby’s neck, shoulders, and core, laying the foundation for milestones like rolling, sitting, and crawling. Our baby classes (baby massage, baby yoga and Mummy/Daddy & Me) at Hushabye Hands include tummy time exercises to make it fun and stress free for everyone.
